Thanks for the compliments! I forgot about mentioning the backing. I used cotton batting and cotton backing. Nothing fancy - finished it the way I would a quilt. Thanks for asking!
I've printed out that pattern too, I think it's really sweet. Your modified scallop version is beautiful and your binding looks perfect. I'll remember that when I make mine, I hope to start it this weekend. A question for you, the pattern calls for fusible felt for the backing, did you use that or did you improvise? I don't want to try to track down fusible felt, I'm sure it could be made with regular backing or regular felt. Just curious as to what you did.

On my computer, the colors come out maroon, blue and pinkish. I have to tell you that it is just beautiful and what a lovely gift. I agree that his wife will really appreciate it more than he will but I'm sure that he will appreciate the time you took to thank him in this way.
