I am a new quilter and making this quilt for my sister (she became a first time proud grandmother last Sept.), but there are many colors in this and i got confused of what to use for the border. Any suggestions.

Thanks and appreciate your feedback

Sorry if the pics are not clear (phone pics)

What a wonderful quilt!!!!
Do you have any more of the lighter blue print?
I was going to say the darker blue until I saw how much of it touched the border on the top right. Maybe a narrow of the lighter blue of about 1 1/2" and then a 4 1/2" border of the darker blue?

You could use any of the fabrics that you have in your quilt. Piano keys with all of them would look good. Maybe put an inner border of one of the first.

Thanks.

The piano keys has black in it. Would it look good with mainly blue here?

I like the idea of the solid inner border, followed by a "piano key" border of the fabrics you used in the quilt. The keys don't have to be black and white!

Unless you wish to buy more fabric, I think your idea of the 1" light and then the 2 1/2 inch dark would look great. Love your quilt! :)

Since your jelly roll is 2 1/2 to begin with, your outer border will be less than 2 1/2 because of the 1/4 inch seam allowance. That would be ok since it will still be wider than the inner border. Good luck.
