So glad the block is working for you......... Just hate when something you are working on doesn't click. Blood pressure goes WAY Up..... and they say sewing and quilting is relaxing.... LOL
Looking forward to seeing your blocks.

You can also check out Deb Tucker's "Rapid Fire Hunter's Star". She has a video on her website: http://www.studio180design.net/videos/?id=2 . Her ruler is more expensive than the one you posted but you get several sizes on one ruler and she uses a technique similar to Roolen's. I don't like using paper templates either

Paper piecing the hunter star is so much easier than doing it with the rulers. It whips up in no time doing it PP'd. I am I am sure you can find a Hunter Star paper piecing pattern on the web. Just print out the pattern once ........ then take a bunch of paper and using your sewing machine with no thread in it sew along the lines. Now you have all your paper piecing patterns and they fold easier and they are easier to remove.

Hope this all makes sense.

The paper pieced pattern is on the same site as the paper templates were. I think she'd rather not paper piece. I suggested that twice--some folks just don't like to paper piece...

They look fine to me. I think you can make this pattern any size you want to. My blocks for the one I made were 18 inches. Its really up to you to decide how big or how small to make it.
