    Her first "practice" quilt

Awhile back I posted that my oldest daughter wanted me to
teach her how to sew and quilt.

I purchased a cheap sewing machine for her from WalMart and
gave her more than enough supplies to get her started. Yesterday
    she even joined the QB.

This is a picture of Didrika2013 (my daughters QB name) first attempt
at making a "quilt" its to small to be a lap quilt. But she was to excited
to wait for "sewing lessons" and such also she wanted to get a "feel" for
the rotary cutter (never used one before).

This is what she made, of course I will give her kudos for trying and
not shying away from it. Sure looks better then the first attempt I did.

She used a purple and teal for the backing.

I love the fabrics and love the colors, good job. I'm glad that her "feel" for the rotary cutter wasn't a literal feel.

It's fun to know we've got a new and very excited quilter. Good job to both of you - newbie and teacher.

Certainly is better than my first attempt. It is lovely. She is on her way and I hope she continues quilting and finds joy is the creation and in giving quilts to others to bring them joy. Nothing better than that,is there?

I love the bright colors and how they play off the backing. Very nice!
A fabric stash is always missing that one fabric needed to finish the quilt on which you're working.

I guess in some ways she is like me in her like of bright colors.

Only colors I am not a fan of is brown and olive/drab greens.
All other colors are a go especially purple and yellow.

Didrika's favorite color is pink, so I think they might end up
being many items made using pink.
