It looks good to me and I don't think having the center square and the outer light color the same is a problem. Looks very nice.

Oh, yes the red center used to symbolize the fire in the fireplace. Maybe that would solve your color choice... It is going to be beautiful, either way!

I would keep the same lights. Looks great. Maybe try the block again using the other light twice. Then you would have two of the same, but still different. But again it looks great. DH will be very happy.
