Here are pictures of my quilt top I finished last night. It's pretty colourful, and actually, it's the first time I've used black as a main fabric in a quilt, and I have to say I'm really happy with the results. I'm going to use bright red flannel for the back.

I should have taken that thread off before I took the picture! LOL

I love it. Black was the perfect choice for the back ground. It makes the colors come alive.

I will probably do freemotion stippling. It's how I finish most of my quilts, and I'm always happy with it. I am going to use a verigated colour thread this time, as I think it will look nice on the black. I'll post a pic as soon as it's done....might take a little while!

Love it. Please show a pic after you free motion with the verigated thread. Have been wondering how it would look.

Lovely. Color is our friend ...

I was making something along those lines using all blue batiks. I wanted to create the illusion of a swimming pool. Dive in!

But, I can't begin to figure out how you put those blocks like that ...

Cordelia, they are just log cabin blocks on point. The big ones are made up of a small black square, then a 2" log cabin around that, and another colour 2" log cabin piece around that one.

The small ones are made the same way, but the outside piece is the same black as the background, so it looks like they are "floating". Then they are placed alternately on point, so colour outside, black outside, like that, in rows. Does that make sense?
