That is a great idea. I did it with some mug rugs as well. Thanks for the reminder.
I made these too, for Thanksgiving, but I skipped the binding. I sewed them right sides together, left an opening, and turn them right sides out. Then I stitched around the edges with a decorative stitch about a half inch in to give them an appearance of binding. They were so easy, I'm making more for Christmas!

This is too funny because I had the topic typed in as "Octagon" then checked the tute link and saw she had hexagon so I changed it. Then thought about it - knowing I counted sides and corners as I sewed and ... oh well! Wondered how many posts it would take before someone mentioned it.
