I never thought of making quilted valences! I'm totally stealing that idea. I like it as it is. I wouldn't make it longer. I like the proportion it makes now with the window.

If it was mine I would just shorten your window rod and add the black binding at the top to match the bottom kind of like a frame around the whole thing. Love the look,
