My friend of 42 years (since elementary school) and her husband recently bought a small home in the town of Idyllwilde, California, which looks for all the world like Santa's Village. I made this wall-hanging as a housewarming gift for her. She is a teacher, and so I was looking for something with an apple theme. Then, one of my recent quilting magazines had this pattern, and I thought it was perfect. The name of the quilt is "Snowed In."

This shows the back fabric. This was my first attempt at machine quilting. I wanted to do something fancier, but decided to try that on something I make for myself. Actually, the pattern suggested this grid.

This is the front of the quilt (obviously).

This is the paper-pieced label I made. I printed the wording on a "Printed Treasures" fabric sheet, then paper-pieced the rest around it. Also, I embellished the tree with the star charm.

I love your quilt....I think your machine quilting is really good...I only hope when I get to do mine it turns out as well as yours. I think this is such a great housewarming gift....makes me feel like moving, but unfortunately none of my friends or family quilt!!

I love it!!! And I'm sure your friends will too!!
I also love your quilting! I've not tried this yet, did you mark your lines with tape or something? They're so perfectly spaced!
:D

I marked them with chalk. It's still hard to get them even and straight, but doing it in a grid like this is very forgiving.
