I think a diagonal crosshatch across the four-patches would look great. Beautiful quilt.

There are some wonderful variegated threads out there. I've seen one with blue and brown and beige. Food for thought?
It's a very nice, masculine quilt. Good luck with your decision.

Thank you, everyone! I am leaning toward an all-over leaf pattern in blue, but am off to look at variegated thread today. BTW, this a free pattern from Robert Kaufman called Boy Scout Quilt.
