On the machine's themselves, if you don't have a lot of decals, I've found Turtle Wax brand Bug and Tar remover has worked wonderfully! Machine doesn't need the waxing afterward either. I used it on a 201 & 301a.

I have the same machine but haven't refinished it yet. I just love it with all the decorative embellishment on it. I can't get mine to sew without thread breaking, so I wonder if I'm threading correctly. Have you tried sewing on yours? You did a great job on the finish!!!
