    Default How to remove marking??

what is the best way to remove markings on cross stitch quilt block?
Have it quilted and wanting to wash it. First checking for any special treatment to do first?

Depends a lot on what was used to make the marks. Pencil? Crayola?

If it was a cross stitch quilt top that was mass produced with the little x’s in blue, sometimes they are permanent. Hopefully this is not the case?

long ago i bought pkgs of marked work. i washed it because i always washed. yep, the marks went away big time. I called the company and claimed big time ignorance. they sent me more! simple washing did it. try a bit of water in one place and see what happens. they should go away. they are meant to. good luck

I had blocks that was done by my late Sister, and I made 3 quilts out of them...after I got them put together for the tops, I washed them and all the markings came out...she had done these about 12-15 years before...so I was really wondering if the blue X's would come out after that length of time...and they did...so I think you will be safe in washing the top, before you sandwich the quilt...good luck...
