Hunters Star with Freemotion Feathers for my kids dad
My kids told me their dad wondered when I was going to make him a quilt since I've been making them for everyone else - we've been divorced for many years, but still are friends, so I thought why not. As I worked on this quilt I had lots of memories of years gone by, some good, some not that great, but it is part of our history, and I'm glad I made it for him.
My Daughter helped with the quilt sandwich, and after it was all pinned, I searched for a simple feather design I could FMQ so I didn't have to mark anything. Not perfect, but I'm still learning.
This quilt will be a surprise - the kids will just make his bed up with someday when they are visiting, and wait for him to spot it - I look forward to hearing his reaction!

This means as much to your children as your ex. After all the kids didn't divorce him. You're so good to make this for him. You both are so good to remain friends. So many people don't. By the way, your quilt is so very pretty. And the quilting.

You are a good person. It's true, the kids didn't get a divorce. Making your ex this quilt will help the kids see that you can still be a kind person even when you disagree on stuff. The quilt is beautiful. I'm excited to think what he will say when he sees it on his bed.
