I just have to chime in - thank you for sharing such a wonderful quilt. Perhaps someday I'll be inspired to try a hunter's star - a pattern I just love. Your choice of colors is striking.

The Hunter's Star quilt block is one of my favorites and you are doing a wonderful job. Please share again when your quilt is completed. Paper piecing . . . hummmmm.

Thanks for all the compliments! DH, who never compliments my quilting, even likes it -- which is a miracle in itself!

The smaller squares are 6 inch with the larger squares of 4 being 12 inch...so the inside is 4 x 5 blocks or feet.

There is no way I would have even tried this one without the paper piecing. It just lines up the pieces so well.

I've seen some done in white with multi colors that are beautiful, but I also like the straight two colors. I was just afraid I would get really tired of two colors. So I chose 5 batiks in blue/green/purple variations and then the inner dark border is actually a 6th batik -- I got the first 5 at a local quilt show and didn'nt have enough of any of them for an inner border because i wanted to use them in the garden maze border.
