You have to remember in the UK they have different ways of saying things. my son married a girl from there, some things they say sound very different than how we would say it.

LOL
Just goes to show how English isn't English isn't English....is it? My students think all English is the same (i.e. American English is the same as British English), and I will often give them examples of how different English words are used to describe or name the same thing. However, I won't be giving them this one as an example.  There are just some phone calls from parents that you want to avoid!

Here, in the U.S., a "cock up" is a "screw-up."

LOL
I love learning the slang/terminology from around the world. Since a friend told me what "randy" means to Brits I chuckle every time I meet someone with that name. Funniest is a lady I volunteer with who is extremely prim and proper with that name.
Don't be so upset about your block...we've all made them...and some of us actually have it down to a science at times.

I know what it is in the US. lol I think it is the equivalent of a goof up in the UK.

Don't beat yourself up - you are a beginner and honestly, I would not have posted pics of my first attempts. So good for you. The other good thing is that you can take your blocks and identify what you can improve on your next piece. I think your colors are pretty. Very traditional.

Have heard the term routinely and often in films with British actors. "Now 'at's a right cockup, 'at is, innit?"

No offense taken whatsoever.

And I actually like the block as it is.
