I was gifted with sewing supplies...
On Wednesday my neighbor, (who had recently lost her DH) knocked on my door. She offered me her sewing box because she was moving to an assisted living efficiency apartment, and had no room or need of it. She knew if there were things I could not use, I would pass them on. I said thank you and assured her that they would be well used and loved by me and others. In the sewing box I found a few things she had never unpackaged. There was a bottle of Singer made sewing machine oil never opened, and few old wooden spools full of thread suitable for craftsy only due to it being very old cotton thread, 30 newer spools of thread each a different bright color, 3 wooden needle cases, two leather lacing needles, assorted buttons, a full package of gold eye needles which I love, and best of is pictured below, a bodkin on such an age that the price is 20 cents! It is wonderfully made with a saftey pin closure. I have never seen on like it, but I will be putting it to good use! Some days just make you glad to get out of bed. I am planning to make her a lap quilt to match her new place as soon as I see it to know what colors as a thank you.

How lovely and the best thing is everything will get used. Kind of you to make her a quilt, I think it will be a really great 'settling in' gift. Moving into assisted living would be pretty stressful I imagine.
