What a sunny happy quilt! The error block loks like she was saying Phone me. It does look like a phone doesn't it?

Many women put a humilty block into thier quilts in those days.

it does look like a phone. I am so happy I found this quilt and was lucky enough to be the recipient of it. I am going to make one just like it, including the phone (I think) in honor of my great grandmother. Or maybe I will put the phone on the back, yeh thats what I'll do.

Think of it not as an error, but a figure of a girl's dress.

Beautiful treasure - so happy you found it to keep in the family. I have a quilt pieced by my grt grandma & grandma the year my mom was PG w/me. It is priceless to me.

Perhaps the one so called "error" isn't an error after all. I have heard that years ago, quilters deliberately made a block or sm. area of a quilt 'different' - to remind themselves to be humble & not get to feeling they were 'superior' in their craft. Could be an "old wives tale", but I think it adds a little fun (& humility) to the quilts story. (and you can always say "that's my story & I'm sticking to it" ;-)

You are so lucky to have this family heirloom. I can only wish I had some like that from my family!
