My mom had one just like that. She got it in the mid 50's and never even thought of trading up. My sister has it now and uses it still.

Good gracious! That is a twin of my first sewing machine. I wish I had it back but I sewed the life out of it until the inner gears would not longer work. Traded it in 20 years ago. Congratulations a a fine piece of machinery. It will serve you well.

You mentioned 1958 and I would guess that would be correct. My parents gave me mine for my high school graduation in 1967 and I know it was a used machine. They would never have purchased a new one. Times were difficult and money tight. But I did not mind. The machine was mine, all mine!

I had one like that for several years. I loved it. But when came time to move a choice had to made about which machines to keep. I wish I had kept it, cause I loved to cams. It needed some work but still....aw well, hindsight....lol

You can go on mysingerstory.com and get a very nice printable certificate for it. I have one for each of my Singers except for my celery colored 221. They lost the serial numbers for it in a fire years ago.
Great machine!
