Idea's anyone on a border

I think it's busy enough to have a plain border, or maybe two or three plain borders, rather than a pieced one. You could echo the colours in one of your log cabin blocks and go turquoise, green & purple. Plain borders would give your eye a place to rest, and frame the piecing.
It's a beautiful quilt!

I like the idea of choosing 3 colours and doing a "tri-border", but piano keys looks stunning too...ah decisions, decisions. By the way, beautiful quilt top...colours are really fantastic.
As a manic pre-washer I can't really help with the running issue, but I know there have been many posts about this - as for the black pepper - I've not heard of it and with all the products available I wouldn't risk ruining a quilt for just a few extra dollars.

i would probably add a plain border, then something funky. i have no idea what a ribbon border is. maybe multicoloured stripes from what you have left over of the colours you used. i am also a pre-washer so i can't help you there but i read a few threads on here about running colours so you could probably search that.
