Thanks for all of your ideas. :) My only concern about making a memory quilt is how hard it will be on him. He lost his grandson a couple of weeks ago too. I feel so bad for him. He lost his wife then later the grandson that had moved in with him. Now his grand daughter has moved in with him. My friend is his daughter in law. She is the one that told me about the machine and mentioned to him that if he was going to get rid of it that I quilted.

I think restrauant gift cards now and then or at home dinners would be great especially if on holidays if he has no family close. Maybe a Christmas gift like a button down the front sweater (old men get cold). You may or maynot realize just how great a gift he's given to you. I recently sold my longarm 15 year old for $2500 and that was cheap in this area. I have not been able to use it since 1998 due to health conditions for it was like new condition.
