Colour, value, and texture, eh? The colour and value I would have guessed, but texture? Looks like this needs more investigation before I attempt one.

Looks great! I took the same class but on a cruise earlier this month. You're right she is a wonderful teacher and very nice also. She also taught one called Transparency where you use fabrics in such a way to make some of them look transparent. I think her patterns are very easy to follow.

Thanks ladies! I'm trying to finish up some UFOs and WIPs this year. It was a fun class. Our guild won her! I don't remember how, but we won her as a speaker for the guild and she put on a class too.
lisa - A quilting cruise is a wonderful thing to dream about!
The texture component is sort of you don't want any real noticeable patterns, like flowery, for 1 of your fabrics. It would ruin the illusion. I used 6 fabrics - 2 colors- dark, medium and light of each and the pattern uses her diamond templates. You also use a lot of starch.
The top up close does NOT look as good as far away. It's pretty cool.
