Sure that wasn't my first husband you were talking to. He is that baffy in the head and would say those crazy things. We use new fabric because we can and it will probably wear better than used clothing fabric. Also, the machine does our work much faster and probably more secure than hand quilting. I love both methods of quilting and I adore the quilts my mother made using some of my old dresses, but I also love the ones I am making using "new" fabric and machine quilting! Shame on that guy for making you so sad that you had to leave and go to the car. A real piece of work, he is.

I sense a lonesome man who probably has lived during the times when all that was available was old clothes which had to be repurposed. I'll bet his mother did just that, and his grandmother also.
If he lived during the depression, those were hard lessons to learn and harder even to let go. Watching you probably brought back very difficult memories, and maybe also a reminder of what he might be facing in the present day.

Hugs being sent your way... and also to that lonesome man where ever he may be.

If I had read all the posts before posting this, I would have seen "donnacrazylady"'s comments. But I do feel the same.

Sounds like he is still living in the depression and is trying to get everyone to join him by depressing them also. Your quilt is lovely with beautiful hand quilting. Please just ignore him and enjoy it.
