My son was 5 when he would sit in my lap and sew. he loved the decortive stitches, so we sewed green thread on red fabric. That year I made flip and sew Christmas stockings and used is piece of fabric for the piece accross the heal and ankel. He is 22 now and still loves his stocking. He has gone on to make a small quilt and Indian ribbon shirts for Boy Scouts. I had to help with the sleeves, but he can do it now.

Your daughter's smile says a million words. WoW! How very special to have a willing new seamstress. Please tell her that her squares look great. Can't you just wonder what her future creations will be? Thanks for posting her photo.

Just precious! You are so lucky....wish I had started quilting sooner so my granddaughter could have gotten in on it! I may still teach her some basics as she is wanting to do a quilt for her best friend...for Christmas. Maybe this will be a good time to get her involved in the action! They're in 10th grade now! Growing up fast!

That is one happy quilter. I started my granddaughters that young and put the foot pedal on a sturdy box or large books so she could reach it.
