Default Just getting going on Ribbon Box quilt with 12 shades of purple...

I am just getting going on a Ribbon Box quilt with 12 shades of purple. I struggled cutting the fabric out, as I kept getting my purples mixed up. I complicated it by having three fabrics with dots! Even putting them up on my design wall was interesting, as I kept mixing the dotted fabric up.

But, they are up now....or sort of. They don't all fit on my design wall. And the colors didn't photograph true...they go together much better in real life.

But, I have learned a lot from this quilt already. I wish I didn't need to put it all up before I started sewing, but somehow that seemed to be the only way to not confuse myself further.

So, if you use your imagination a bit, you can see what my purple Ribbon Box quilts will look like...in a week or so.

I really like that! I can see how it could be confusing to cut and lay out. What helps me is to use sticky dots , one per block . I number them A1, A2, A3...for the first row, B1, B2, B3 for the second, and so on. If a block or two falls off the wall, or i get distracted or confused, at least I know which blocks go where.

Love it done in purples and nice to know I'm not the only person who kept making mistakes with this pattern. I even sewed a couple pieces in the wrong place and had to rip it out and resew. Worth it in the end. Keep going. Can't wait to see it finished!

It will be very pretty.
I am easy to get confused and would not attempt this. I would have to be very careful and maybe number everything.
Good luck.
