I have a 99, also, and the wires need replacing. Where did your husband get the wires to change for the old ones? They have an odd way of plugging into the machine.

Have you been able to fix the tension, yet? I had to tweak the tension on one of my 301's, the other day, and followed Dave McCullam's instructions on how he does it on a Featherweight. I never knew that I could do that myself!!
