What size is this quilt? I seen a pattern similar to this in a very old quilt mag, I have a dear friend that I met on this forum, She lives In Ala, and we have since gotton together. She collects old quilt mags. And she sent me a similar pattern, Just the butterflys, not the whole quilt, I loved it when I seen it, and I love yours. Is the center piece stippled first then add the applique of butterflys? How big is your center piece? Really a nice job, and the colors are great, Very cottage looking to me. How long did it take ya? Thanks for sharing.

Rebecca, you're right. A very old copy of Quilt Magazine had a whole cloth quilt with butterflies on it. In fact, the butterfly patern was the one in that mag. I had forgotten that! This is the 3rd one using that template! So I got a good run out of that mag. :D

It mesures about 45 inches square. I attached the butteflies and then quilted and quilted the bordrs separately too. The center is 38 inches. I guess you call this stippling. I call it apin on a regular machine. I am a novice and had all kinds of misery with it. I don't know how much was me andhow much was he machine. I probably won't do this technique again until I can get the frame from John Flynn. Also if you look closely--one of the daisies is turned the wrong way. Ididn't notice it until I was done and then it was too late. So they will just have to live with it.

Annmarie. This is one of only a few of my projects that I ahve regretted giving away. Maybe there will be one for me someday. :-) The quilting did look a lot better once I washed it. In spite of all the trouble that quilt gave me, I do like it. thanks for all the kind words.

Thanks so much for the info, I did'nt notice the flower at all. And as far as I know you did it that way so, it's your special mark, and thats how you know you made it, And that is what makes it special. So no one can take it and say that it's theirs, because you know whats special about it. Good idea. There are no mistakes, Just happy and unique marks. Defintely do not fret, it's way to pretty to fret, They will love it.
