    I alternated 5" and 6" strips. So the finished strips ended up being 4" and 5". Instead of using X's that you would use for blocks, I sewed lines down each strip. I sewed 1 line down the 5" strips, and 2 lines down the 6" strips. I will try to post some pictures because this is about as clear as mud. .
