I sprayed the affected areas with Oxiclean, used two color catchers and color safe bleach. It took 3 more times in the wash, but now I can gift it and not feel bad about it.

Thanks for your reply. I just had to use color catchers for a new pair of pants I bought. I opened the machine on the rinse cycle and the water was a navy blue and stayed that way through two more washes and I'm starting it again for a third wash/rinse cycle.

both are lovely pieces. So happy you resolved your bleeding dilemma. Your FMQing is wonderful and love the design you used on the Summer in the Park quilt, it really looks great!

Thanks for all the nice comments, but FYI-I did not do the quilting myself. It was done by my local LAQ, Janice Roy of Little Red Quilt House. Have used her for a long time. Great lady and beautiful work and a tremendouse selection of edge to edge designs to choose from. This quilt has "Irene Swirls" that I have used often. One of my favorites.
