All you need to do to make the star is to take that HST and cut a 30 degree line and then sew on another piece of fabric and cut out a square from the center. Then you just need as many of these as the pattern calls for and you sew them together the same way as HSTs. It is really alot easier than it looks!
You get intricate looking quilt blocks with easy steps!!
