I was out and about today and couldn't wait to get back home to do more of that paper piecing thing.
    Here's what I made...

Only question....how do you get it to lay flat with the bunch of fabric at the middle? I sewed 4, then 4 again, then joined in the middle, but it's really thick there. How do you get it so it's not so thick?

What a beautiful piece of work. You could try snipping any sticking up points in the middle or giving it a good bash with the iron. Sylvia

I will have to admit....it's fun AND easy!
Use the directions that are posted here on the message board that Skeat posted. Also go to the site, download not only the pattern, but the directions from there too. It has pictures, so you can look as you go. It's really quite simple. I was just putting too much into it. Wait till you see the next picture I post. I'm telling you.....these people have created a monster in me!!!

I did that one not long ago and had the same problem with the center. I wanted it for a sunshine (not a star) anyway, so I appliqued a circle over the center and cut out the center.

    Your colors are gorgeous!

Thanks! I have always wanted to make one out of the blue and yellow. Seems that's my favorite color combination, especially the cobalt blue.

I found the pattern for the tulip on Carol Doak's site and thought it was cute. I want to make a thank you gift for a friend of mine and I think I'm going to do the tulips with some kitties in it and call it "Tip Toe Thru The Tulips"
