I also enclosed a gift card for another child and it was uninsurable. I did get tracking, though. How do you insure a quilt when you send it?
I'm not sure, I will find out when I go to the post office. There must be a way to establish value. Maybe writing up an invoice?

Such a kind person to go to the trouble to search out the owner. Wouldn't it be nice for the owner to document the story and include it when the quilt is passed down.
    I love this story!!!!!

i put the name/address on the inside of all packages sent out..
if the packge gets lost or damaged, hopefully they will see the 3x5 card inside with all the shipping info. i do this for swaps too..

    Great story! thanks for sharing!

With all the automation, the loose card may float away in a different direction. I am going to baste a label on that can be easily removed by the owner.

But I love happy endings. Now if I could just do as good as work as the 9 year old!

Wow, what a wonderful ending! You are so sweet to go to all that effort. Perhaps you can post the site address for the rest of us...in case it happens again.

What a beautiful quilt, and how nice of you to find its rightful owner. If everyone was as nice and helpful as quilters what a wonderful world this would be.
