    Mariners Compass Stars

    Name: image.jpg
Views: 3247
Size: 1.73 MBThis is from Carol Doaks book, Mariners Compass Stars. Ready for borders. I was thinking 2 1/2 inch white for first border and 5 inch black for outside.

Oh, I have seen this in a few of the quilt books and have thought about making one. You have me thinking. My dad was a navy man, when we lived in the Marshall Islands as a kid, we were always in the water and on boats. When I walk the dog at night, I so enjoy all the stars in the sky. You have me planning.

There were several options in Carol's book. I chose to place them on point, and it went without too much trouble. She provides a chart for sizes.

I love your beautifully done quilt.I have always loved the mariners compass blocks.
Had you considered a thin black border first. Just thought that might set off the intense colors in the quilt. Just some food for thought.
    I quilt, therefore I am.

Never thought about using a narrow black for first border because of black hst, but I will consider that and see how it looks. Thank you
