Rachel, I think your quilt is beautiful. The orange works really well for me and I wouldn't change a thing if I were you. I don't feel that yellow would do it justice.

I think the orange sashing is too shocking, to say the least. It also takes away the basket theme. A pale shade of one of the other colors in the border fabric would look nice.

Looking at the top again, I would stay away from any solid color. You really don't have an outstanding color that would bring out the baskets. I would use a white sashing preferably print with tiny flowers spaced quilt a bit apart, not touching.
I really think you need to experment. I also think a white with pale green or yellow polka dots would look nice. Stay away from large objects and close together florals and checks.

I like the orange. The only thing I would consider is that the orange needs to be a tone on tone print to soften it a little but as a colour I think it works well. Good luck - those baskets are lovely

I'm a newbie, and have really no experience, but I do think the orange, though a great color, does overwhelm the pale colors in the baskets. I think I would go with a medium yellow -- bright, but not too bright, for the sashing. Love the flower border!
Remember, newbie. Take this with a bucket of salt
