Here is a little wall hanging I made for my mom for Mother's Day. I haven't made anything small in quite awhile so this size project was quite a breath of fresh air. It was fun paying attention to all the detail. This was also the first quilt I have finished the binding by hand on. I have to say that the extra time involved is definitely worth it. The binding looks sooooo nice when it's hand sewn on the back. I will make every effort possible to finish every other project I make like that.

Oh, Rachel, that is just beautiful. Your mom is going to love it. I really like the way you quilted it differently in each section--really adds interest and texture. Just love it!!

Rachel--that is beautiful!!!!!! I am so impressed. Love the quilting! I, too, love working on smaller things lately.

Was it a pattern or did you create it?

Oh gosh no, I'm not quite THAT creative yet. It's a pattern out of Beth Ferrier's book called More! Hand Applique by Machine. She has 9 different patterns in there and I love all of them. My mom was visiting a couple weeks ago and said several times how much she loved those sunflowers in the book. When I took her to the airport I swung by the fabric store on my way home and got all the fabric to make this for her. :)

Rachel, that is just gorgeous! I have a granddaughter who makes me think of sunshine and sunshine makes me think of sunflowers; so whenever I see sunflowers, I think of Tabatha. Love this and your quilting is supberb! I want to spend time this summer learning free motion. Thanks for sharing!
