My best friend gave me her mother's sewing stuff. I think I saw some of those "cams" in the bag. Do you want them? Just let me know. I'll go check and see what they are.

I just seen one just like your machine at my neighbors, about a hour ago. She showed me the cams she had with it. That is so neat.

It's a beauty, you got a great find. Yes the opening in the top is for cams. Wish I could give you more info on it. :)

Nice find! Here is a link on information on the Singer 403 and shows the differences in the 400 series. At the bottom of that page is a link to a manual.

    Enjoy!

That was the machine I learned to sew on - my mom wanted a sewing machine and my dad convienced her we couldn't afford it - at the same time he was researching by talking to ladies at our church, went to several different fabric stores, and this was the one he bought (along with lessons and the promise to keep us kids while she went to the lessons). Needless to say, my mom is much better at sewing than me but now that machine is with my daughter who is learning to sew. It is a great machine.

Lucky you . Great machine and it had the zig zag cam in it already. Those are sometimes hard to find.

Nice find!! On-line type Singer sewing machine, websites. I bought a featherweight. Found many things to buy. It was fun finding items I had to have!!!! Enjoy the machine, my mom had one like that. She also had a featherweight. Ebay has singer attachments, but first find out if they will work on your machine. Have fun!!
