It's a winner with us. Beautiful. I would get insurance on that treasure.

Your aunt was a winner anyway!

Oh yes, belongs in a museum indeed. Love the 1776-1976.
She did such a nice job.

What a wonderful treasure. She had a great talent. She is the winner in my book.

I am one lucky gal, for sure. I don't have any close-ups on this, but her stitching is beautiful. About 8 stitches per inch. I've had all her quilts appraised for insurance.

Thanks for all your comments, too. My aunt never entered any competitions, except this one. She never showed her quilts, except to family. When I saw all your lovely comments, I just looked up and said, "See, Aunt Marie, people love your quilt!"

OMGoodness!!!!!  I think I agree with your uncle! How in the world did she not win??!! I wonder what the other quilts in the contest looked like, if this wasn't a "winner?" Just goes to show that people pick winning quilts for sometimes unknown reasons. :| I'm absolutely positive, however, that it will always be a winner for your family!!! :D It is spectacular!!!  I'm so glad you posted a pic of it! My dear aunt was the one who taught me to quilt. She got me started on Sunbonnet Sue blocks. Unfortunately, I never did finish that quilt. Hmmm......maybe I should dig it out of the black hole that I'm sure it's hiding in and finish it up. She would be so pleased that I finally finished it. And it would have only taken me about 30 years to get it completed!!!!!!!! Not bad, huh?

Wondeful quilt. Very cheery, and so festive.

It's so nice to see our elders' work and be able to appreciate it. I really love the centerpiece.
