I love your chickens. I just did one with roosters. Maybe they should meet LOL. I also asked the board about borders when I was doing mine. Suggestions were great !!!! I added a thin border that matched my cornerstones and then a black print for the outside border as someone suggested. I previewed a lot of colors from within the quilt but until I used the black, nothing popped within the quilt. So after all this, I'd say use a black border. I'm not so sure I would use the chicken wire. Your eyes needs to rest somewhere. Sorry I am maybe way out there but until I tried it I didn't believe it eitther. Make sure to show us the finished version. Good luck!!!!!

love the chicken wire border idea. I saw same fabric a while back that was like old barn boards...I think that would really frame it nicely if you can find any of it.

Thanks. These chickens are from the funky chicken swap and I love them all. The ladies did a great job. I'll give the border a rest for a couple of days until I decide. It will be a once in a life time quilt I'm sure.

Susie, they look great all playing soooo nicely!!! I love the green eggs and ham block...too cute! About the border....I like the solid strip first, next to the quilt, then I'm not sure about the chicken wire (I think its a great backing though!!)...I tend to agree about you eye needing a place to rest...I might use a lighter color next, then another solid color for a border about 3", then bind it...so 1 teensy border, 1 maybe 1" border, then a 3" border...maybe.....I dunno....lay it out, push the dogs/cats to the center of the quilt so you can see the edges and then play.... Lookin' good girl!!! :D

I think a polka dot binding to pick up one of the polka dots in the quilt would be cute.

Absolutely adorable. Either way you do the border will be right.

I would use the burgandy as the first border too. This is a really nice quilt.

I just love your chickens. The concept of the chicken wire on this quilt for a border is great. Personally, I would like to see something more "black and white" There is a lot of white in the quilt already and the chicken wire is pretty white. Do you have any more of that black background with white eggs on it? I think that would set it off great.
