Very cute.
I have sewn garments for so long that I rarely read the patterns anymore just kind of look at the pictures in the directions. Unless it's really a complex piece. But over the years I have sewn everything from pj's to wedding gowns. Maybe learning how to put them together without reading them was a self defense mechanism since some of the patterns are poorly written it was frustrating.

Great costume. I agree with you on the instructions. Used to sew with patterns years ago and they seemed so much easier to understand. You did a great job!

This brings back memories of costumes I used to make for my grandson. He's in Afghanistan now, but says he still remembers the wondersul Halloweens.
