Great job. I made my first one last night. I had these kits that I had bought a few years ago at a retreat. I've been cleaning and organizing my sewing room so that I can start sewing in there again, (instead of all over the house) and I came across them figured it'd be an easy project and at least I'd done some sewing over the weekend. I think the darts need to be deeper and I really like how yours crisscross. I have a set of 4 so I think I'll go thru my stash and find fabric to make four more that will go with what I have and do them like yours. Thank you and your friend for sharing this great idea.

The main thing to remember is that everything has to be 100% cotton if you are putting them in the microwave. The thread, fabric, batting to keep it from catching fire. If you don't make them 100 cotton I wouldn't put them in the microwave just as a holder when you take the dish out.

Thanks romanojg for the reminder on the 100% cotton on everything. I make mine out of 100% cotton (everything) & have never had a microwave problem. Even if you don't use them "in" the microwave they can still be used to hold hot bowls & cold bowls. They are great for when eating ice cream to keep your hands from getting cold.
