    I just love it when all the right pieces come together at the right time. This is brilliant! and sure to be used for many, many more games. Kudos to you and your giving heart.

    that's brilliant! what sizes were your squares? just big enough for the checkers? i don't even know what would be a good size. great job!

    edited: i should really learn to read ALL the comments before asking questions. that's really a great idea. my husband loves chess. i could do something similar for him...just to find some great chess pieces... and i love the tote-ability of it! can i ask, what kind of batting did you use? cotton? i'm inexperienced, but i'm guessing polyester would be too puffy?
