    Hahaha, just received my book on Celtic Knots!!!! Of course, it is 10 quilts down the line but someday I'll get to it. I'm in the middle of a 6 month appliqué class, we meet twice a month. I's FUN!!! Good job!

    Didi, you know what? I found these knots on a website that shares tattoo art!!! I printed out the knots in the shapes that I like and traced them onto freezer paper! I used a Clover bias tape maker and double sided fusible tape to adhere them to my fabric for stitching. Then I just used silk thread and a very small stitch to sew them down.
    thank you so much for exposing your design source, because I too was curious. Now for the quilting part... I would do one of two things to keep your bias design from wrinkling when you wet it to remove your markings. I would double bat or do trapunto so that way the unquilted area of the knot is quite filled with batting and really has no place to go when wet. I would also do just a wee bit of quilting in a matching thread on the knot itself, just in the over/under areas. I may even try to catch the very edge of the applique with the quilting thread to help hold it down even more in areas. I would experiment with a smaller piece first but I really think doing trapunto or double bat with very heavy quilting in the background will solve your issue. Also I would prewash my fabric that I made bias tape out of to get all possible shrinkage out of the mix.

    Love Celtic knots! Don't know if I will ever get there but love yours. I hope you will show us more as it goes along.
    Feline: Thanks for your recommendations, seems to me your answer would work on all kinds of applique.

    Thank you!! Ok - one last update! I finished quilting this - and I hit the applique with an iron...I think that's all it needed as it looks much better!! Thanks for all your suggestions!
