great job on your block! You could frame it on the wall, to show your first block!

That is such a cute block. I love the fabrics. I say go ahead and make more. It would be a cute quilt. Great job. Thanks for sharing.

Great block! I love that fabric.
I have had the same problem (1/2" short) and it takes a while to get the 1/4" seam mastered. :-)
Keep at it you are off to a wonderful start

Good job, Joe! As for it being a bit off size - check to make sure your fabric is cut right - just one skinny width of the ruler line would be enough to make it smaller than planned. Also, double check your 1/4" seam allowance - just a smidge over 1/4" can make you run short - and put both those together (cutting & sewing) can make a difference too!

But it really does look great - and frame it - as previously mentioned - and hang it by your sewing machine - for inspiration when frustration tries to get the better of you!!

good job, I'm sure you will hear about a scant 1/4 inch seam. that's just a few thread less than the 1/4 inch seam. cutting is important. be precise and you are off to a good start. good luck learning what your machine will do.

You did an awesome job, and your fabrics are fabulous! I know you'll find some way to use this block--if you can't think of a way now, just put it aside; eventually you will!
