As I see it, it is what you make it. I always ( always -- I say that like I'm an old time quilter. ) anyway, I wanted to learn PP and this block required it. I had someone give me about a 10 minute demo and I just decided that I could do it. The 'hardest' part is understanding how it operates. Once you 'get it' you've got it. Personally, I enjoy it.

Just beautiful! I am planning a trip to Maine this fall with 2 of my quilting friends and the vacation quilt I am planning is a Mariner's Compass in the center surrounded by storm at sea blocks. I hope I can do as well with the Mariner's compass!!! What a great job and a beautiful block! What are you going to do with it? Wall hanging? Center of a quilt? How big is it?

It is a quilt center on a BOM. Without the black boarder pieces ( that I haven't sewn on yet, it measures 18" square.
