TY, Robert, for your kind words... TY, QuiltE, for your help...

Robert, as I've said, this was my first kaleido, so I still have a lot of doubts, a lot of new points to learn... for example, I didn't know nothing about what QuiltE has written here!

So sorry, but I really don't remember the amount of fabric I had... when I've found it on quilt shop I've bought the whole last small amount of fabric (border).

As I usually do in my quilts, I begin to sew without a complete and definite plan... what is always a nightmare for me... LOL...

What has happened with this quilt was:
1)I've loved the fabric and bought it...
2)It was just a long time that I wanted to try a kaleido, and this border seemed perfect to me...
    3) then I did some studies of the look of the pattern with two mirrors...
    4) I've sewn all the kaleido blocks that my fabric has allowed me... it was 16!
5)then, I've measured the area these blocks represented
6)I've measured my bed, and decided the measures of my desired quilt (OMG, you may be noticing how insane is this... LOL)
    7) I came back to the quilt store, and began to find the 2 other fabrics that matched colors with my blocks (the light and dark turquoise blue)
    8) back home again, I began to cut and sew strips...
    9) back to the quilt store, to buy a dark navy blue for backing and bias...
    10) back home again, to finish the quilt...

I don't recommend this behavior, definitely!

Exactly now I'm almost crazy with a quilt, dealing with the same problem: as always, I began it without a "published pattern"... the fabric I'm sewing has a delicious touch, but is terrible to be sewn... it is a very soft and smooth Shannon Fabric I've bought last year when in Houston Festival (http://www.shannonfabrics.com/index....&cPath=712_730)...

Every time I do this, every time I swear my next quilt pattern will be found in a magazine... LOL
Wow, you couldn't have written it better. I feel like I've just had a tutorial from Eleanor Burns....LOL. I did the same thing with an oriental quilt I made with a Robert Kaufman panel and paperpieced fans, and lanterns. It was my first attempt at making a "mind over pattern quilt". Ha Ha, I think my mind wasn't quite sufficent.
Here is a picture of it. Screwystewy did the longarm quilting and I filled in the geshia's kimono on my home machine.
Thanks for all your help and encouragment.
    It's really appreciated

Sent the wrong pic, I'll send it again. this is the pre-quilting pic

I'm really liking to go becoming friends with you!

You do your quilts this insane way too??? Poor of us... LOL
Oh yes ... even if I somewhat follow the pattern, there's bound to be some changes, just to make it mine. HATE reading and following instructions! :)

Your quilt reminds me of an antique tile floor. It is just lovely.
