I made this quilt for my brother for Christmas 2009.

This was the first time I worked with a plaid type material. Thankfully the shop I purchased it at told me not to try to cut with the lines or I would go nuts. I thanked her profusely for saving me many hours of frustration and tears.

This is also my first king size quilt and the first time I worked with homespun material.

Then lastly, this is the first quilt I tied to finish.

That has to be one of the prettiest homespun fabric quilts I have ever seen. It is simple yet very striking! Great job!

Very manly quilt. Easy and yet very appealing too. I've never worked with homespun. How was it to work with?

It is always nice when someone offers advice that saves you from pulling your hair out isn't it??? I've never worked with plaids before but I can see how I might get caught up in a really big mess! Thanks for sharing the advice you were given....I'm learning something new on here all the time. :) by the way....the quilt is gorgeous, your brother is a lucky guy!

Messy! I hope you can understand this explanation:

It is not a tightly bound material. So the minute you cut into it, it starts to fray. So you end up with it all over your house and cutting bits off just so you can continue.

While making that one I vowed to never use that fabric again, then turned right around and did, so....

Yes, it was VERY nice of her. I had told her I had only been quilting since August so her advice was great.
