What a sweet story, and an adorable quilt. I have a similar story though not involving quilting. My mom was a wonderful mom but she was an awesome, outstanding grandma to my kids. She passed away 10 years ago rather unexpectedly. My daughter is now expecting my first grandchild. My mom knitted all my kids baby sweaters, so, though it's been 30 years since I have knitted I knew I needed to pick up needles and knit my grandbaby the sweater that great-grandma would have if she could have. I only hope that I can be as great in my role as grandma as she was.
