That's the most adorable baby quilt I've ever seen. Wonderful work! Don't disparage your designing - it's amazing and the random placement of the blocks gives it a wonderful scrappy look!

I admit that I didn't really go about this the right way - I found the adorable Penguin & Fish embroidery patterns, and wanted to do something using those. I embroidered the little squares, then picked some safari-colored fabrics and designed everything else around that. After I'd starting putting this together, I started reading quilting blogs and books, and it turns out that I didn't design or piece it in a very traditional way!! I arranged the blocks in a random scattered pattern, and I think I would have preferred a more organized layout. I'm pretty hooked though - having so much fun!
I think you did a very nice job. This will be a much loved (sometimes loved too much), quilt. Before my daughter was born (when dirt was new & clean, & god was a boy), my mother hand embroidered a quilt for my daughter. It was on a WHITE back ground, my daughter is now 32 and still has what is left of this quilt sandwiched (the sandwich has been replaced at least 4 times over the years), with new binding (the binding has been replaced so many times I have lost count). Yet she still loves this quilt. So your hard work might not always look so nice, but it will be loved. Thank you for sharing. Snooks
