If it was going to be a surprise, then I'd keep it and do another for her. I really think you should keep your first one.

It is wonderful. If you decide to gift it (any recipient would be grateful!) take a picture for your records. I've made many and am finally keeping one..... Do as you wish.... sometimes gifting is more fun.

I totally agree with most of everyone here... label this quilt and keep it! It's a very important marker in your life.... "firsts" only come around once! Beautiful job btw....
