Default My first quilt

It took a year from choosing the pattern and fabric to completion, but this is my first quilt, made for my granddaughter for Christmas. I FMQ'd myself, appliqued the flowers, managed the borders and binding. It miraculously was square by the time it was ready for binding. I'll never be that lucky again! It was all new to me, I have sewn for years and had participated for several years in BOM at my local quilt shop, but I finally got brave enough to jump in. In the middle of this, my husband decided I should have a new machine so I purchased the Janome Horizon 7700. I made a quilt for my grandson in a month using layer cake squares, but sashing and 'stop' blocks were another new lesson. My grandkids and their parents were blown away as I had managed to keep it all a secret. I have learned a lot from this board and all of your resources. Can't thank you enough. I have a new happy addiction for sure. Now, if only going to work didn't get in the way of quilting!

Oh, my goodness. You outdid yourself for a first quilt. It is beautiful. Looks like you learned a lot for your first try.
Congratulate yourself. This Quilting Board will continue to help you with anything & everything. Both quilts are
beautiful.

Thank you all so much! Your comments mean a lot because I admire and drool over the talent on this board. Painacs, it might well be another year as my next challenge is a queen size for my daughter in law. LOL about the paycheck, so true!
