I agree with PaperPrincess. Also when meandering, you don't cross over any lines; whereas, with stippling you can cross over making loops, etc. But I guess a person can do whatever they want with their quilting. Looks like you're doing great. Just keep practicing, practicing, practicing. You'll get to enjoy FMQ.

Aren't you glad you moved forward? Every project you complete will be more practice, and you have the satisfaction of completing beautiful work. We are never done learning and getting better, but, to me, it doesn't make sense to just keep on practicing on scraps. The tip that has helped me the most with FMQ meandering is to visualize going around the size of different coins. I do dime, nickel, quarter, and fifty cent size meanders. It helps to keep the size consistent throughout the whole piece.

Nice work! If that's your first attempt, it's really good.

Looks great! I received as a Christmas gift the new Brothers "Dream Fabric Frame". It uses my Brothers Dream machine on a platform and thus becomes a quilting machine. Handles like a long arm machine. My goal this year is to learn to use it to do most of my own FMQ. Lots of practice in my future, but I'm excited to learn something new. Keep up the good work!

It looks great! And your cardinal is very well done! As paperprincess said, the difference, as I understand it, is that stippling is the same process but smaller than meandering.
